The baseball team at Paejae High School in Seoul, which received a six-month suspension for chanting slogans disparaging the May 18 Democratization Movement during a game against Gwangju Jeil High School, has decided to file for a reconsideration of the disciplinary action.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education stated that the Paejae High School baseball team reached the decision to file for a reconsideration with the Korea Baseball Softball Association following internal discussions.
Paejae High School plans to submit a petition from its faculty and staff along with the application for reconsideration.
It will take at least two months for the case to be reviewed again after the application is filed.
Gwangju Jeil High School, which had previously reconciled with Paejae High School after receiving an in-person apology, also appealed to the baseball association for leniency regarding the disciplinary action against Paejae High School.
