▲ A woman in her 40s, an employee at a taekwondo gym accused of attempting to murder her husband with drugged alcohol, leaves the Incheon District Court's Bucheon Branch after attending a warrant validity hearing on the afternoon of the 9th of last month.
A taekwondo gym employee and her accomplice, the gym's director, have admitted to all charges in their first trial for attempting to murder the employee's husband using drugged alcohol and weapons.
During the first trial held today (July 8) at the Incheon District Court's Bucheon Branch, presided over by Judge Na Sang-hoon of the 1st Criminal Division, the defense attorneys for the defendant, a woman in her 40s (A), and her accomplice, a female gym director in her 20s (B), both stated, "We admit to all the facts of the indictment." The two are charged with attempted murder and preparation for murder.
The defense attorney for B said, "The defendant admits to all the charges and is deeply reflecting on her actions," adding, "She also offers her sincere apologies to the victim."
The defense attorney for A also stated that their position was the same.
The husband of A is scheduled to appear as a witness in the next trial.
A and B are accused of attempting to murder A's husband three times between April 26 and June 6 at A's home in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, using drugged alcohol and weapons.
Investigations revealed that after searching the internet for methods of poisoning, they mixed a psychotropic tranquilizer into soju and offered it to A's husband. When he did not drink it, they stored it in the refrigerator.
They also attempted to deliver soju laced with tranquilizers to A's husband by placing it in his mailbox, and they attacked him with a weapon, causing injuries to the back of his neck that required five weeks of medical treatment.
