An investigation team member involved in the case of Jang Yoon-gi has testified that when cable ties were discovered in a vehicle, the team leader ordered him to "leave them alone," SBS has learned regarding allegations of a cover-up in the initial investigation.
The special investigation team of the National Office of Investigation under the National Police Agency has conducted questioning of Police Officer A, who was a member of the original investigation team.
Officer A was the individual who filmed the video during the search and seizure of the SUV used by Jang Yoon-gi after the incident occurred.
It has been confirmed that during the questioning, police secured testimony from Officer A that when the cable ties were found during the search, the team leader gave instructions to the effect of "leaving them alone."
The police arrested Police Inspector B, the team leader, on an emergency basis on July 6 and have requested an arrest warrant, citing charges including ordering Officer A to delete the video of the search and seizure.
The pre-arrest interrogation for Inspector B is scheduled to be held at the Gwangju District Court at 11:00 a.m. today.
