Silent 119 Call Leads to Successful Rescue of Citizens Trapped in Elevator

A 119 emergency call was received, but no voice could be heard on the other end.

In a situation that could have easily been dismissed as a prank call, the 119 emergency dispatch center did not ignore it, leading to the safe rescue of citizens trapped in an elevator.

According to the Jeonbuk Fire Service Headquarters, the emergency call came into the 119 integrated situation room on the evening of July 6.

However, no sound was heard from the caller.

The caller was trapped in an elevator in a six-story building in Wanju-gun, and because the signal was poor, they were unable to speak. It could have easily been dismissed as a false alarm.

However, the 119 dispatchers sensed that something was wrong due to the repeated silent calls.

They sent a text message to the caller.

Through this, they learned that the caller was trapped in an elevator.

They pinpointed the location and dispatched a rescue team.

The rescue team safely rescued nine citizens, including five children, from the elevator, which had come to a stop between the first and second floors.
