The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) announced that the Next-Generation Medium Satellite 4 was successfully launched at 16:12 KST on July 7.
KASA stated that the satellite is scheduled to separate from the launch vehicle approximately two hours and 30 minutes after liftoff, at around 18:42.
The Next-Generation Medium Satellite 4 was launched into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA.
The Next-Generation Medium Satellite 4 is a medium-sized Earth observation satellite jointly developed by South Korea's Korea Aerospace Administration, the Rural Development Administration, and the Korea Forest Service.
Designed for agricultural land surveys and disaster response, the satellite uses observation equipment with a 5-meter resolution to capture images of the entire Korean Peninsula every three days.
The Next-Generation Medium Satellite 4 is set to attempt its first contact with the Svalbard ground station in Norway at 19:03 KST.
