The area around the shared campus in Jiphyeon-dong, Sejong, is set to be transformed into a youth-friendly complex.
The National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC) announced today (July 6) that it has selected expert committee members to oversee the specialized planning for the campus park area in Jiphyeon-dong and has begun drafting a master plan for the space's development.
The site covers an area of 53,507 square meters, encompassing the cultural park, commercial and business land, and parking lots near the shared campus.
The NAACC plans to develop the area into a complex equipped with education and research support functions for students and faculty of the shared campus, as well as cultural, leisure, and daily convenience facilities.
The agency also explained that a team of experts in fields such as landscape architecture and urban planning, led by Professor Bae Ji-yoon of the Department of Architecture at Honam University, will review the existing land-use plans and develop detailed specialization strategies.
In particular, the agency decided to avoid excessive architectural restrictions that have previously been pointed out as obstacles to project viability, and will comprehensively review and incorporate measures to improve business feasibility and revitalize commercial areas.
The NAACC aims to finalize the master plan and detailed specialization proposals for the entire site by the first half of 2027, begin land supply and landscape design in the second half of that year, and complete the development by 2031.
