The 'fantastic duo' of South Korean table tennis, Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin, have defeated the 'world's best' Chinese pair to win the WTT Smash in the United States. This marks the first time the two players have won a title at a Smash event, the highest tier of competition.

Even when facing Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin, a pair consisting of the world's number one ranked male and female singles players, Shin Yu-bin and Lim Jong-hoon remained composed.
When a ball that Lim Jong-hoon dove to block went wide, Shin Yu-bin smiled brightly to encourage him, and after Lim's powerful smash succeeded, the two looked at each other and nodded.
The pair's chemistry shone through in the final game, which was tied at 2-2.
With a 8-7 lead, Lim Jong-hoon successfully landed a backhand shot. After the Chinese duo closed the gap by one point, Shin Yu-bin secured the victory by forcing an error from the opponents with an accurate return.
With a 3-2 win, the Shin Yu-bin and Lim Jong-hoon duo celebrated their first-ever victory at a WTT Smash, the highest-tier tournament.

[Lim Jong-hoon: Since Yubin and I kept finishing in second place at Smash events, I really wanted to win first place at least once.]
Having defeated the 'world's best' Chinese pair once again following their victory at last year's Grand Finals, the Shin Yu-bin and Lim Jong-hoon duo have brightened the outlook for the Asian Games, which are now two months away.
