The Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced that it has booked and is investigating a taxi driver in his 60s, identified as A, on charges of running over and killing a man who was lying on the road.
A is accused of striking and killing a man in his 40s, identified as B, while driving his taxi on a road in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at approximately 4:40 a.m. today.
It was determined that prior to the accident, B, who was in an intoxicated state, had been lying on the road after slightly colliding with the side mirror of another passenger car that was making a right turn.
It is reported that immediately afterward, the taxi driver A, who was following the passenger car, failed to see B on the road and struck him while making a right turn.
B was transported to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest immediately after the accident but was eventually pronounced dead.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
