Driver in His 40s Struck and Killed by SUV on Cheonan-Nonsan Expressway While Checking Accident Scene

A driver in his 40s was struck and killed by an oncoming SUV while checking the scene of his own accident after crashing into a median barrier.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. yesterday (July 3), the man, identified as A, was standing on the road at the 245-kilometer mark of the Cheonan-Nonsan Expressway in the direction of Cheonan, located in Useong-myeon, Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, when he was hit by an approaching SUV.

Following the collision, A was transported to a hospital in cardiac arrest but was later pronounced dead.

Police investigation revealed that A had initially crashed his vehicle into the median barrier and had stepped out of his car to assess the situation when he was struck by the following SUV.

Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident, questioning the driver of the SUV, a man in his 50s.
