Vlad Tenev, CEO of the U.S. online brokerage Robinhood, has predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) agents will soon reach a level of capability comparable to human traders.
In an interview with the U.S. business news channel CNBC on July 2 (local time), Tenev stated, "The idea behind agentic trading is that AI agents can perform all the capabilities that a human can."
He added, "Before I founded Robinhood, I worked as an institutional investor doing programmatic trading. People don't yet fully realize that a significant portion of trading is already automated and powered by AI."
He continued, "However, that level of intelligence and complexity is difficult for the general public to access."
He emphasized, "The ultimate goal of the agentic trading that Robinhood is aiming for is to allow everyday people to have access to the same tools, the same computing power, and the same power that institutional investors working at investment firms have enjoyed for decades."
Previously, Robinhood introduced an AI agent in May that can execute trades on behalf of its customers.
