The city of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, announced on July 3 that it held an opening ceremony and began operations for its newly designated Dalbit Children's Hospitals, Gojan Yonsei Pediatrics and Danwon Hospital.
Dalbit Children's Hospitals are public facilities designated by provincial governors from among local clinics and hospitals, excluding tertiary hospitals. They operate during weekday nights or holidays to provide prompt medical care for pediatric patients aged 18 and under with minor illnesses.
Dalbit Children's Hospitals are categorized into partial, full-time, or joint-operation models depending on their operating structure. The two newly designated hospitals will operate under a joint model, with Gojan Yonsei Pediatrics handling weekend and public holiday care, while Danwon Hospital covers weekday night shifts.
This marks the first time a joint-operation Dalbit Children's Hospital has been designated within Gyeonggi Province.
Previously, Gojan Yonsei Pediatrics had been designated as a partial-operation Dalbit Children's Hospital since October of last year, providing care only on weekends and public holidays.
With Danwon Hospital now taking on weekday night shifts, Ansan has effectively established a full-time medical care system for pediatric patients under the Dalbit Children's Hospital program.
Ansan Mayor Lee Min-geun stated, "Thanks to the persistent persuasion by our public health center staff, these hospitals joined the initiative, allowing the province's first joint-operation Dalbit Children's Hospital to open in Ansan." He added, "We will continue to do our best to make this a city where it is easy to raise children and a place where both children and parents can feel at ease."
