Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jeong held his inauguration ceremony today (July 1) and began his term for the 9th popularly elected administration.
During the ceremony held at Daejeon City Hall, Mayor Heo stated, "We will boldly eliminate unnecessary projects," in consideration of the difficult financial conditions.
He also presented six key tasks for the 9th administration, including the recovery of people's livelihoods and future growth strategies based on artificial intelligence. He emphasized plans to expand the local currency 'Ontong Daejeon 2.0' and build a data center and an integrated AI data platform.
In addition, he outlined plans to expand support for youth employment and housing, as well as ensure the successful hosting of the 2027 Summer World University Games.
The inauguration ceremony drew attention with a performance where 'Raibo,' a quadruped walking robot from the Daejeon-based company Lion Robotics, personally delivered the oath of office and the inaugural address to the mayor.
Following the ceremony, Mayor Heo officially began his duties by signing the handover documents.
Sejong Mayor Cho Sang-ho also officially launched his term with the new slogan, "Sejong, the Administrative Capital and the Center of Balanced National Growth."
At the inauguration ceremony held at the city hall's Yeomin-sil, Mayor Cho explained the financial crisis facing Sejong City and emphasized that he would boldly cut back on conventional spending and inefficiencies.
He also set the establishment of constitutional and institutional foundations for the completion of the administrative capital as his top priority, presenting a plan to accelerate the construction of the National Assembly Sejong Building and the presidential office in Sejong.
South Chungcheong Governor Park Su-hyeon signed the 'Practice of Chungcheong Spirit,' which aims to revive the values of loyalty, filial piety, and etiquette, and the opening of the governor's office as his first official acts.
To practice the Chungcheong spirit, South Chungcheong Province decided to promote a campaign to fly the national flag and provide the highest level of respect to the elderly and national merit recipients.
Furthermore, for open and communicative administration, the province decided to keep the governor's office open to all residents at all times and install CCTV in the office to be broadcast on the official website.
