The Korean Association of Certified Public Tax Accountants held its regular general meeting yesterday (June 29) at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam, with approximately 2,000 members in attendance. During the event, members pledged to serve as professional experts who monitor the use of public funds to prevent waste and enhance fiscal transparency.
In particular, the association stated that it would continue to innovate to establish itself as the premier comprehensive tax consultancy in the era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
The association also expressed its commitment to revitalizing the Hometown Donation Program, which allows individuals to receive tax credits and return gifts worth up to 30 percent of their donation when they contribute to regions other than their place of residence.
Koo Jae-yi, Chairman of the Korean Association of Certified Public Tax Accountants, said that tax accountants would continue to support the Hometown Donation Program this year, which was introduced in 2023 to promote balanced regional development and expand local fiscal resources.
"Through the village tax accountant system and by serving as promotional ambassadors for the Hometown Donation Program, we have shown how well tax accountants can serve our citizens and businesses, and how close we are to them," Chairman Koo said. "I look forward to further development through the capabilities and public-interest activities of our tax accountants."
Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung, whose ministry oversees the Hometown Donation Program, expressed his gratitude for the voluntary service and dedication of the tax accountants in his congratulatory remarks, stating, "The village tax accountant system is a representative model of public-private cooperation."
"The generous support and professional advice from the tax accountants during the promotion of the Hometown Donation Program for regional economic revitalization were instrumental in achieving the record-high collection of 151.5 billion won," Minister Yoon emphasized. "I earnestly hope that you will continue to promote the program and guide many citizens to participate this year as well."
