Ji Yeon-soo: "I Receive 850,000 Won in Child Support... It's More Realistic for Me to Work and Earn It Myself"

Single mother and television personality Ji Yeon-soo has shared her realistic perspective on the issue of child support from her ex-husband.

On the 29th, a video titled "Ji Yeon-soo's Thoughts on Ex-Husband's Child Support" was released on her YouTube channel, "Ji Yeon-soo's Yeon-so-rop-da." In the video, Ji discussed viewers' stories with reporter Yoo Soo-kyung and shared her own experiences regarding child support and the reality of raising a child alone.

When a story was shared about a viewer struggling because her ex-husband posts photos of luxury shopping, omakase meals, and travels on social media while failing to pay child support properly, Ji empathized, saying, "This is a reality that many single mothers face."

She said, "The minimum child support is currently around 640,000 won, and I receive 850,000 won. In fact, there are not as many people as you might think who receive child support properly." She then confessed, "At some point, I decided to let go. Rather than constantly waiting and fighting over when the child support will be paid or why it isn't being paid, I realized it was more realistic for me to work and earn the money myself."

She added, "Of course, child support is the child's right, so it is money that must be received. However, I couldn't let my own life fall apart while waiting for it. In the end, I think I endure by telling myself that I need to live even harder."

She also shared the practical difficulties she faced while raising her son, Min-soo, as a single mother. Ji said calmly, "When the child is young, it is not easy to work properly. Because you have to match your schedule to daycare pickup times and school dismissal times, there are many cases where you can only work part-time. If the child suddenly gets sick, you have to drop everything, no matter how important the work is, and run to the hospital. In that moment, there is only the mother. In such situations, you have to take responsibility for your livelihood, so you grit your teeth and endure it."

Previously, on the 22nd, Ji made headlines on the same channel by stating that she sincerely congratulates her ex-husband, Eli, a former member of the group U-KISS, on his remarriage, adding, "I have already found happiness with Min-soo."

Ji Yeon-soo and Eli had a son, Min-soo, but ended their six-year marriage and divorced in 2020. Afterward, they appeared together on the TV Chosun variety show "We Got Divorced," but it did not lead to a reconciliation.
