The government has designated three additional areas—Dongtan, Giheung, and Guri—as speculative zones and adjustment target areas.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced today (June 30) that, following deliberations and resolutions by the Residential Policy Deliberation Committee, it has newly designated Dongtan-gu in Hwaseong, Giheung-gu in Yongin, and the city of Guri—all in Gyeonggi Province—as speculative zones and adjustment target areas due to recent sharp increases in housing prices.
The Ministry explained that this measure was implemented to curb speculative buying, protect actual homebuyers, and respond to the overheating of the housing market.
In conjunction with this measure, Gyeonggi Province plans to designate these three areas as land transaction permit zones from July 5, 2026, to December 31, 2027, following a review by the municipal urban planning committee.
