As the drama 'Mr. Kim' quickly climbs the ranks of success, actor Yoon Kyung-ho, who is now set to fulfill his pledge of a 'vow of silence,' shared his thoughts in a lengthy post.
On the afternoon of June 28, Yoon uploaded a long message on social media, starting with, "Perhaps... because I might not be able to speak for 13 hours, I wanted to leave the things I want to say here in advance."
Regarding the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Mr. Kim,' which premiered on June 26 and surpassed 15% in viewership ratings by its second episode, Yoon expressed his gratitude, saying, "As an actor in the show, I am sincerely grateful for the passionate love from the viewers." He continued, "While thinking about how to express my gratitude, I remembered the pledge I made at the production presentation," bringing up his ratings promise.
Previously, at the 'Mr. Kim' production presentation held on June 25, Yoon had promised, "Since So Ji-sub is returning to SBS after 13 years, if the ratings exceed 13%, I will observe a 13-day vow of silence if my schedule allows. If that is not possible, I will at least do it for 13 hours."
Yoon, known in the entertainment industry for being talkative, made the 'vow of silence' pledge himself, but 'Mr. Kim' surpassed the 15% mark in just two episodes, instantly clearing the threshold.
Faced with the reality of having to fulfill his 'vow of silence' pledge, Yoon drew laughter by posting a long message on social media before starting the commitment.
Yoon remarked, "So Ji-sub mentioned nonchalantly that he originally doesn't speak for 13 hours a day," adding, "Thinking about it, the '13' in '13 hours' was meant to commemorate So Ji-sub's return to SBS after 13 years. In the end, I essentially nominated myself," expressing his embarrassment.
"My wife's words, 'Please watch your mouth,' are finally sinking deep into my heart," said Yoon. He explained, "I would love to start my 13-hour vow of silence right now to express my gratitude, but I am currently on a trip with my family after a very, very rare break, so it is difficult to do it immediately."
Yoon promised, "I will definitely take on the challenge for those waiting as soon as I return." He added, "I have so much I want to say, but this time, I will replace my words with silence to repay your support," drawing laughter once again for mentioning 'silence' while already writing a long post.
Furthermore, Yoon listed a total of 186 names in alphabetical order, saying, "I want to share this joy with the colleagues who worked hard with me." He added humor by checking in with Son Na-eun and Choi Dae-hoon, who had agreed to join him in the vow of silence, asking, "You guys are still doing this with me, right?"
Netizens who encountered the long post filling their screens reacted with amusement, commenting, "It's noisy even though it's text," and "Is a 13-hour vow of silence even possible for you?"
Meanwhile, 'Mr. Kim' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
