A foreign national in his 40s who fell from the 6th floor of a commercial building in Incheon was rescued by police and fire authorities after he managed to cling to an air conditioner outdoor unit on the floor below.
According to the Incheon Bupyeong Police Station and the Incheon Fire Headquarters on Sunday (June 28), a report was received around 10:40 a.m. stating that a Myanmar man in his 40s, identified as A, was hanging from an air conditioner outdoor unit installed on the exterior wall of the 5th floor of a 6-story commercial building in Bupyeong-dong, Bupyeong-gu.
Police and fire authorities dispatched to the scene set up an air mattress on the ground and forcibly opened the door on the 5th floor, successfully rescuing A 19 minutes after the report was received.
It was determined that A had fallen from a Myanmar religious prayer center located on the 6th floor of the building.
Based on statements from people nearby, the police believe that A suffers from a mental illness and have taken measures to place him under emergency hospitalization.
A reportedly sustained an ankle injury during the fall, but his life is not in danger.
