Man in His 50s Arrested for Attacking Acquaintance with Weapon in Chungju

A man has been arrested by police after he retrieved a weapon from his home and attacked an acquaintance following an argument while drinking.

The Chungju Police Station in North Chungcheong Province announced that it had arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges of attempted murder.

A is accused of bringing a weapon from his home and attacking another man in his 50s, identified as B, after the two had been drinking together in front of a convenience store in Jihyeon-dong, Chungju, at approximately 9:30 p.m. yesterday (June 27).

B sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital, but his life is reportedly not in danger.

Police, who were dispatched following a report from a passerby, apprehended A at the scene.

The police are currently seeking an arrest warrant for A and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, believing that the argument began while they were drinking and that A attacked B in a fit of rage.
