The U.S. military has conducted additional airstrikes against Iran, holding the country accountable for attacks on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran launched drones and missiles at neighboring countries, including Bahrain, to strike back.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed in a statement released via state-run Press TV that it had targeted U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones in retaliation for the U.S. airstrikes.
The Revolutionary Guard further threatened, "If the U.S. continues to violate the cease-fire agreement between the two countries, all diplomatic procedures will be completely suspended."
In relation to this, the Kuwaiti military announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday that it was "intercepting hostile aerial targets" using its air defense systems.
Since the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end hostilities on May 17, the U.S. and Iran have been trapped in a vicious cycle of attacks on civilian ships in the Strait of Hormuz, followed by U.S. airstrikes and subsequent Iranian retaliatory attacks.
Previously, the U.S. conducted airstrikes on Iranian military facilities on June 25 as a punitive measure after a civilian vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz was struck by Iran.
Furthermore, after an oil tanker was attacked again in the Strait of Hormuz on June 27, the U.S. launched additional strikes on Iranian military facilities, and Iran's counterattack has once again escalated tensions between the two nations.
