A man in his 70s who allegedly committed a stabbing attack at the Ilmin Museum of Art in the Dong-A Ilbo building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, will undergo an arrest warrant hearing today (June 28).
The Seoul Central District Court is scheduled to hold the pre-arrest interrogation for the suspect, identified as A, at 2:00 p.m. today (June 28). He faces charges of attempted murder and preparation for arson.
A is accused of stabbing and injuring an acquaintance, a person in their 40s identified as B, with a sickle around 7:50 a.m. on June 26.
Immediately after the crime, A fled by taxi, traveling through Yongsan-gu and Dongjak-gu in Seoul, before being apprehended at the residence of an acquaintance in Gwanak-gu.
It was reported that A had previously worked in cleaning-related roles around the building, and B had also worked within the building before recently submitting a resignation.
The police, who arrested A in an emergency operation approximately 10 hours after the incident, also applied the charge of preparation for arson after confirming circumstances suggesting that A had prepared to set a fire.
