A man accused of murdering his girlfriend after she asked to break up has been indicted.

The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Moon Ha-kyung) announced today (June 26) that it has indicted a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of murder.

A is accused of arguing with his girlfriend in Gangdong-gu in the early hours of June 1, striking her head multiple times with a blunt object, and killing her using a weapon and an electrical cord.

A fled the scene immediately after the crime but later turned himself in to the police.

After receiving the case on June 9, prosecutors conducted a forensic analysis of A's mobile phone, which revealed evidence of premeditated murder.

Records on his phone showed that prior to the crime, A had searched for terms such as "death from being hit in the head with a frying pan," "location of the brain," and "skull structure." He also visited a blog post titled, "If you are hit in the head repeatedly... is the brain really okay?"

Prosecutors also confirmed that A was staying at his girlfriend's residence at the time against her will.

The prosecution stated that an integrated psychological analysis by the Supreme Prosecutors' Office confirmed a high risk of recidivism, leading them to request an electronic monitoring device attachment order for A.
