Cash Found Inside Discarded Mattress: Public Works Employees in Sokcho Report Discovery

It has been belatedly reported that public works employees working at the Sokcho Facilities Management Corporation's recycling sorting center discovered a bundle of cash inside a discarded mattress and promptly reported it to the police.

According to the Sokcho Facilities Management Corporation on Friday (June 26), public works participants Park Soo-hyun, Jung Seung-hwan, Woo Chan-ju, and Tak Jae-hyun found 1.5 million won in cash while dismantling mattresses at the recycling sorting center in Daepo-dong, Sokcho, on April 14.

Immediately after the discovery, they handed the cash over to the staff in charge of the Resource Circulation Team and subsequently filed a report of lost property with the Sokcho Police Station.

However, according to the police, the owner of the money has not been found to date.

The corporation praised the incident as an example of the high civic awareness and honesty of the public works participants, who have been quietly performing their duties in the field.

A corporation official stated, "We will continue to actively identify and share the good deeds and exemplary cases of our participants," adding, "We will strive to create a warmer and more trusted community culture."
