▲ Kim Do-yeong hits two home runs in a single day
Kim Do-yeong of the KIA Tigers has surged back into a tie for first place in home runs with Austin Dean of the LG Twins after hitting two homers in a single day.
In an away game against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul today (June 25) for the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League, Kim blasted a two-run homer to right field in the third inning and another two-run shot to left field in the seventh.
While his first home run traveled 110 meters, just clearing the right-field fence, his second shot soared 135 meters.
With these homers, Kim and Austin are now tied with 22 home runs for the season.
Bolstered by home runs from Na Sung-bum and Harold Castro, the KIA Tigers secured a 9-4 victory, maintaining a perfect 9-0 record against Kiwoom this year.
Including one win from last year, the team has now won 10 consecutive games against them.
The last-place Kiwoom Heroes are mired in a nine-game losing streak and are just one loss away from becoming the first team this season to reach 50 losses.
KIA scored the winning run in the third inning with one out and runners on first and second, following a hit, a fielder's choice, and a sacrifice bunt, capped by Kim Ho-ryeong's sacrifice fly.
Immediately after, Kim Do-yeong pushed a fastball from Raul Alcantara for a two-run homer, and the next batter, Na Sung-bum, pulled a breaking ball over the right-field wall for a solo shot.
In the seventh inning, Kim's bat roared for the second time, sending the ball over the left-field fence.
With two outs and no runners on base, Castro then hit a solo homer to right-center field to seal the victory.
KIA starting pitcher James Naile delivered a masterful performance, allowing only two hits and no runs while striking out eight over seven innings to earn his fifth win (4 losses) of the season.
