Actor So Jisub shared his thoughts on returning to SBS, a broadcasting station he describes as his "home," for the first time in 13 years since the hit drama "Master's Sun".
On the afternoon of June 25, a press conference for SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "Agent Kim Reactivated" (written by Nam Dae-jung, directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun) was held at the SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Director Lee Seung-young and actors So Jisub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyungho, Joo Sang Wook, and Son Naeun attended the event to share various stories about the upcoming project.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, "Agent Kim Reactivated" is a "dad-universe" revenge action drama. It follows the story of the "most ordinary" father in the world who becomes the "most dangerous" man to rescue his only daughter.
So Jisub, returning to SBS dramas for the first time in 13 years since "Master's Sun", said, "I made my debut in 1996 with the SBS drama 'Model'. Since then, I've done a lot of SBS projects, and I also got my first lead role at SBS. Because my previous SBS works have had a great track record, I have high expectations for 'Agent Kim Reactivated' as well." He added, "SBS feels like home to me, so I felt comfortable and happy. Coming back to a familiar place allowed me to film comfortably without any awkwardness."
In the drama, So Jisub plays "Manager Kim," an ordinary employee at a small savings bank and a devoted father whose life revolves around his high school sophomore daughter, Min-ji (played by Seo Su-min). However, his true identity is a former black-ops agent, making him a walking time bomb.
Regarding his decision to join the project, So Jisub cited his thirst for action and the solid narrative. "I received the script just when I was wanting to do an action drama again," he explained. "I felt that Manager Kim's backstory and the desperate emotions of a father who lost his daughter would be a great challenge for me as an actor."
In particular, he described the action as a highly intense, top-tier difficulty process, distinguishing it from his previous action roles, such as in his prior Netflix project "Mercy for None". So Jisub emphasized, "If my previous action roles were like moths jumping into flames, risking death, the action in 'Agent Kim Reactivated' is a desperate struggle to survive alongside his daughter. It has a completely different tone."
Having to portray deep fatherly love despite not having children in real life, So Jisub expressed his gratitude, saying, "I received a lot of advice from director Lee Seung-young and help from actress Seo Su-min, who played my daughter. Thanks to her treating me like a real dad on set, I was able to fully immerse myself in the role."
Meanwhile, "Agent Kim Reactivated" will premiere on June 26 (Friday) at 9:50 PM KST, following "My Royal Nemesis".
