The Korea Traditional Simmani Association announced yesterday (June 24) that eight roots of Cheonjong wild ginseng were discovered at the foot of Mt. Jangan in Jangsu-gun, Jeollabuk-do.

Cheonjong wild ginseng refers to ginseng that has grown naturally in deep mountains, untouched by human hands, for at least four generations.

These ginseng roots were found by a herb collector surnamed Park (in his 50s) in a deep valley at an altitude of approximately 950 meters last weekend.

Appraisal results suggest that the largest "mother" ginseng root is approximately 100 years old, and the total weight of the eight roots is 76 grams.

The Korea Traditional Simmani Association has set the appraised value of these ginseng roots at 120 million won.

Jeong Hyeong-beom, president of the Korea Traditional Simmani Association, stated, "It is rare for Cheonjong wild ginseng to be discovered on Mt. Jangan," adding, "In terms of color, shape, and size, these are considered the best ginseng roots found so far this year."
