U.S. President Donald Trump stated on June 24 (local time) that he received notification from Iran that no fees are being collected for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social that day, President Trump explained, "Despite the Fake News Media reporting to the contrary, Iran has informed the United States that there are no tolls, insurance, or any other kind of fees being demanded or collected by them in the Strait of Hormuz."
He added, "If this notification is false, negotiations (following previous agreements) will end immediately."
President Trump also stated that, to date, "No money has been given to Iran by the U.S., nor have any (frozen overseas) funds been released or paid to them."
He further reiterated his claim, saying, "Some of their funds, which we have total control over, will be given to our farmers and ranchers for the purchase of (U.S.-grown) corn, wheat, soybeans, etc."
President Trump emphasized, "Iran is in desperate need of food, and we will only buy it for them from the United States."
