Singer Kim Ho-joong, who has been serving time for a drunk driving hit-and-run accident, has passed the parole review and will be released on the 30th.
Kim was previously deemed ineligible for parole during the Christmas special amnesty review last December.
Having passed this latest parole review, he will return to society five months earlier than his original scheduled release date in November.
In May 2024, Kim was arrested and indicted on charges of driving under the influence, crossing the center line and colliding with a taxi in the opposite lane, fleeing the scene, and having his manager turn himself in instead.
Kim, who initially denied driving under the influence, admitted to the crime ten days after the accident and was eventually sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
He had been serving his sentence at the Seoul Detention Center before being transferred to the Somang Correctional Institution in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, last August.
