Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on June 23 that it will provide special rewards to citizens who participate in "Climate Action Opportunity Income" activities starting next month.
The Climate Action Opportunity Income is a signature environmental policy of Gyeonggi Province that provides up to 60,000 won in local currency annually to residents who practice 16 different climate-friendly actions in their daily lives.
To promote a culture of carbon reduction and respond to the climate crisis, Anseong City has allocated 100 million won from its own budget to provide additional special rewards to citizens who fulfill specific action items.
The eligible activities include five categories: walking, using public transportation, cycling, recycling electronic waste, and using multi-use containers for food delivery.
The city plans to provide additional rewards ranging from 50 won to 500 won per instance.
As a result, Anseong citizens will be able to receive up to 90,000 won annually by combining the provincial Climate Action Opportunity Income (60,000 won) and the city's own reward program (30,000 won).
In addition, the city will provide daily rewards of 300 to 2,000 won for five specialized activities: resource circulation, carbon-neutral consumption, energy and water conservation certification, using multi-use containers at Seounsan Mountain Campground, and using multi-use cups at cafes.
