Actor Park Bo-gum is set to take on animation voice acting for the first time since his debut.
Park Bo-gum has landed the title role in the movie 'David', which has created a global box office sensation, even surpassing the score of 'The King of Kings' in the North American box office.
'David' is an animated musical film that tells the story of an ordinary shepherd boy, David, who faces his destiny to become king, starting from his mother's song to his legendary battle with the giant Goliath, whom the world feared.
Park Bo-gum will voice the protagonist, David, who overcomes trials through faith to ascend to the throne. He is expected to delicately portray David's innocence and moments of determination with his signature clear and firm voice. In particular, as he has proven his outstanding vocal abilities through the musical 'Let Me Fly', anticipation is high for how he will perform the musical numbers that capture David's inner conflicts and convictions.
Park Bo-gum shared, "I deeply resonated with David's boldness and message of hope. I hope this film will be remembered by audiences as a work that delivers the courage to try and the persistence to succeed."
The role of Samuel, the prophet who guides David on his path to becoming king, will be voiced by Jang Gwang. Known for his unique presence across both voice acting and traditional acting, he is set to bring Samuel to life with his deep voice and warm charisma. Jang Gwang shared his thoughts on joining the project, saying, "When I heard that the story of David, which I have listened to since childhood, was being made into a movie, I knew I had to participate."
The role of Nitzevet, David's mother who instills courage and faith in him, will be played by musical actress Cha Ji-yeon, who is renowned for her unrivaled vocal talent.
In addition, Korea's top-tier voice actors have joined the cast to elevate the film's quality. The role of King Saul, who becomes consumed by madness and jealousy toward David, will be voiced by voice actor Song Jun-seok, known for his work in 'Zootopia 2', 'Detective Conan', and 'Power Rangers' theatrical releases. The role of Goliath, the massive destiny David must face, will be voiced by voice actor Si Yeong-jun, famous for his roles in 'Fullmetal Alchemist' and 'Sgt. Frog'.
'David' is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on July 15.
