Im Won-hee, Kim Jong-min, Jung Gun-joo, and Seo Nam-yong of 'My Little Old Boy' will spend a bizarre day visiting 'Salmokji,' a famous haunted spot that has sent shivers down the spine of South Korea.
In the upcoming episode of SBS's 'My Little Old Boy' airing on May 24, the four men embark on a chilling exploration of Salmokji—the real-life location that inspired the film 'Salmokji: Whispering Water,' which became the highest-grossing Korean horror film of all time.
During a recent recording, Im Won-hee announced his trip to Salmokji to desperately wish for love, citing a legend that "wishes made at the stone pagoda there come true." However, because the site is notorious for countless ghost stories, he admitted he was too terrified to go alone and recruited Kim Jong-min, Jung Gun-joo, and Seo Nam-yong as his companions, sparking laughter. Watching this from the studio, MC Seo Jang-hoon was baffled, asking, "Why on earth would you go to Salmokji of all places to wish for love?" before jokingly adding, "You might as well meet a virgin ghost and go on a blind date," which sent the studio into fits of laughter.
Unlike Im Won-hee and Seo Nam-yong, who are notoriously easily frightened by ghosts, Kim Jong-min and Jung Gun-joo confidently claimed they did not believe in spirits at all. However, as soon as they stepped through the entrance of Salmokji, even they could not hide their tension, overwhelmed by the eerie atmosphere. To prepare for any spectral encounters, Im Won-hee pulled out several "ghost detectors" he had brought along. Moments later, as they reached a specific spot, the detectors suddenly went off simultaneously, emitting a mysterious voice that left everyone on set utterly frozen in shock. In particular, Im Won-hee's unexpected behavior near the water reportedly threw the entire group into chaos, raising curiosity about what transpired.
Adding to the tension, a shaman who served as a professional consultant for the actual movie 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' made a surprise appearance. The shaman shocked everyone by revealing that the ground they were standing on was once "a reservoir built over graves" and is currently filled with an eerie, dark energy. The shaman even shared that during the actual movie production, most of the filming had to be moved to other locations to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.
Furthermore, after witnessing a "peculiar action" the four men had carelessly performed on-site, the shaman sternly warned them to stop immediately, calling it "an extremely dangerous act that provokes ghosts," which sent a chill through the studio. Viewers are left wondering what dangerous behavior the four men engaged in that managed to shock even a professional shaman.
On the other hand, an unexpected piece of good news emerged amidst the spooky atmosphere. To Kim Jong-min, who wished at the stone pagoda to "have a smart child," the shaman shared a surprising fortune-telling reading: "Starting from the second half of this year, your luck for having a child will officially begin. I even see the luck of having twins." Anticipation is building over the full story behind this "twin fortune" that made Kim Jong-min rejoice.
The bizarre journey of the four men to the legendary haunted spot of Salmokji will be revealed on the upcoming episode of 'My Little Old Boy' on May 24.
