BTS has received an official invitation from the President of Mexico to visit the presidential palace.
On May 6 (local time), Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced during her regular press conference, "Mañanera," that "BTS will visit the presidential palace, and we plan to open the balcony to allow them to greet the citizens."
President Sheinbaum expressed her special affection for the group, describing BTS as "a group that always delivers messages of friendship, peace, and love."
Previously, in January, President Sheinbaum welcomed the news of BTS's concert in Mexico, calling it "a historic moment that has been a long-held wish for Mexican youth." When competition for tickets to the group's comeback world tour became intense, President Sheinbaum even requested additional shows from the South Korean government. She stated, "I sent a letter directly to the President of South Korea. I haven't received a response yet, but I hope for a positive one."
BTS has previously been named the most-streamed K-pop artist in Mexico. Their fourth studio album, 'MAP OF THE SOUL : 7', was selected as the most-played K-pop album in the country, and 'Dynamite' ranked as the number one most-streamed K-pop song in Mexico.
The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce projected that the BTS concert would generate an economic impact of approximately $107.5 million USD.
BTS will hold a total of three concerts at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on May 7 and May 9 – 10.
