Actor Jung Woo’s first feature-length directorial debut, 'Audition 109', has surpassed 200,000 viewers nationwide just 8 days after its release.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets on the morning of the 29th, 'Audition 109' recorded 200,353 viewers as of that morning.
'Audition 109' is a cheerful and passionate drama about 'Jjanggu' (Jung Woo), an audition genius who endures and stands back up with the sole wish of becoming an actor, even after being knocked down and frustrated time and again. As the sequel to the 2009 film 'Wish', it garnered high expectations even before its release. In this project, Jung Woo took on a new challenge by serving as both the lead actor and the screenwriter and director.
As it is the sequel to 'Wish', which has such a dedicated fanbase that it is often called an "unofficial ten-million viewer movie," the expectations from fans for 'Audition 109' were exceptional. While reviews for the film have been mixed since its release, it has already more than doubled the audience count of its predecessor (approximately 100,000 viewers), surpassing the previous film in terms of box office performance.
