Actor Lee Jung-jae has been appointed as a new board member of the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation.
The Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation recently held a board meeting and elected Shin Eon-sik, Chairman of JIBS, as the new Chairman of the Board to fill the vacancy left by the passing of the inaugural Chairman, Ahn Sung-ki. At the same time, the foundation recruited and appointed actor Lee Jung-jae as a new board member.
The new Chairman, Shin Eon-sik, has previously participated as a board member and has provided stable operations and support for the foundation through Hanju Holdings Korea, where he serves as CEO. He is a figure who has built a deep understanding and network across the film and cultural arts sectors.
Lee Jung-jae, who was appointed as a board member to participate in the foundation's operations, shared his thoughts on his appointment, stating, "I feel a sense of responsibility and fulfillment in being given the opportunity to serve in the artistic talent cultivation and support projects that the late Ahn Sung-ki was dedicated to, upholding his legacy."
Having become a global star through the Netflix series 'Squid Game', he also showed his warm side as a junior colleague last January when he carried the portrait of the late actor Ahn Sung-ki to bid him a final farewell.
Lee Jung-jae's appointment as a board member can be seen as a decision that aligns with the foundation's goals of 'globalization of K-culture' and 'cultivation of young artists.' The foundation expects that Lee Jung-jae will bring vitality to the foundation's scholarship programs and short film support projects based on his field experience and global network.
An official from the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation stated, "With the launch of the new operating system, we will continue to carry out our mission as a public interest foundation by seamlessly executing the support and cultivation projects for young artists in film and theater, which we have been conducting as our main objective for 16 years."
