SBS and Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at SBS’s Mok-dong headquarters on the 21st to co-produce global content. The two sides agreed to expand collaboration across content planning and production, AI-powered technologies, and international distribution.

The MOU was prompted by the Korea visit of Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State at Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI).

Under the agreement, SBS and IMDA will jointly produce a full range of content―scripted dramas, short-form dramas, variety shows, and documentaries―while also promoting exchanges in production talent and technology.

The MOU also covers joint projects to introduce and commercialize AI-driven innovations, plus co-developing and investing in revenue models optimized for new media platforms.

Tan, the Senior Minister of State at Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information, said, “We hope this MOU between SBS and IMDA will further strengthen collaboration between the media industries of Korea and Singapore.”

IMDA Vice President Tang Yvon also stated, "Through cooperation with SBS, the center of K-content, Singapore's strategy to leap forward as a hub for Asian co-production will become more concrete and create synergy."

SBS President Bang Koon Shin said, “Singapore is a leading digital and media hub in Asia, and IMDA is at the center of it,” noting that “including format sharing, adaptations, and other localization models in the MOU is a major highlight.”

Bang added, “When IMDA’s strategic goals meet SBS’s proven production capabilities in the global market, we’ll see a steady stream of high-quality content for worldwide audiences.”

SBS and IMDA plan to finalize details on co-produced content and joint development of next-gen AI media solutions, with the aim of signing project-specific plans at the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) in Singapore this December.
