Super Junior’s EunHyuk met SM Entertainment seniors Shinhwa’s Lee Min-woo and Andy and shared candid stories about old-school idol culture.
On April 13, Lee Min-woo and Andy guested on DongHae and EunHyuk's YouTube channel,swapping senior-junior stories from their SM Entertainment days. When DongHae opened with, “I heard Shinhwa has a lot of fight stories,” Lee Min-woo recalled, “Once, a prank during a dry rehearsal turned into an argument and then a fight. Back then, everyone was tired and on edge, so small things could blow up.”
He continued, “When fights broke out, our manager would step in, and sometimes we’d all be punished together. We’d get told to put our hands behind our backs and press our foreheads to the floor. We even got hit with a mop.” He added, “One time, our manager said in the waiting room, ‘Try fighting again in front of me.’ Those two members actually started fighting again. After 30 minutes, they came back laughing with their arms around each other.”
When asked, “Did a mop ever break with Super Junior, too?” EunHyuk hesitated before admitting, “Yeah. I really relate. I think Super Junior was the last generation to get scolded like that,” drawing attention.
Lee Min-woo also shared, “We once fought at a hotel over the curtains. Another member was getting hair and makeup done, and because it was dark, someone opened the curtains. Then someone else told them to close them, and it turned into a fight,” laughing at how small things could spark clashes.
EunHyuk said, “Surprisingly, a lot of Super Junior’s fights started with DongHae. He’s super playful. But in the end, I’m the one who suffers.” Andy added, “For us, that was Eric. His nickname was ‘Loach.’ Later, he even used the ID ‘MIC LARGE.’”
Thinking about how much Super Junior mirrors Shinhwa, EunHyuk said it felt uncanny. When he remarked, “I regret not writing those moments down,” Andy quipped, “Be glad you didn’t,” prompting laughter.
