The film "The King's Warden" is on the verge of claiming the No. 2 spot on Korea’s all-time box office chart.

According to the Korean Film Council’s box office database on the 10th, "The King's Warden" drew 32,843 moviegoers nationwide on the 9th. Its cumulative admissions now stand at 16,222,006.

That puts it just 44,635 tickets behind the all-time No. 2 title, "Extreme Job" (16,266,641). Audience turnout is naturally slowing in its 10th week, but climbing to No. 2 looks well within reach. It’s expected to surpass "Extreme Job"’s final admissions as early as today, or by the 11th at the latest.

Set in 1457, "The King's Warden" follows village head Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin), who volunteers for exile to revive his village, and the deposed young former king, Danjong Lee Hong-wi (Park Ji-hoon). The film surpassed 10 million admissions 31 days after release and hit 15 million in 50 days.
