BTS dominated major weekly charts in Korea and worldwide with their fifth studio album, "ARIRANG".
According to Hanteo Chart on the 30th, BTS’s new album "ARIRANG" topped both the Weekly World Chart and the Weekly Album Chart (tracking period: March 23-29). The group first debuted at No. 1 on the chart for the week of March 20 with just three days of sales after release, and they held the top spot for a second straight week.
A preview article published by Billboard on the 30th reported that "ARIRANG" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (dated April 4). The album entered with 641,000 equivalent album units―the strongest single-week performance for a group album since units were introduced in December 2014. Of that total, 532,000 were pure album sales (physical and digital), marking the highest weekly sales for a group album in roughly a decade.
They also swept global streaming charts. On Spotify’s weekly charts (tracking period: March 20-26), BTS hit No. 1 on the Global Weekly Top Albums, Global Weekly Top Songs, and Global Weekly Top Artists. On the Global Weekly Top Songs, the title track SWIM took No. 1, and all 14 tracks from the album landed within the Top 30.
SWIM held No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global for nine consecutive days (March 20-28) and on Apple Music’s Top 100 Global for seven straight days (March 23-29). Every track on the album continues to chart on both platforms. Even ten days after release, not just the title track but the full tracklist is enjoying strong, steady global streaming.
Meanwhile, BTS will hold BTS WORLD TOUR "ARIRANG" on April 9, 11, and 12 at the Main Stadium of Goyang Sports Complex in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do. In October, they will stage stadium shows in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. The tour―which includes Goyang, North America, Europe, and Tokyo―has already sold out 46 dates, showcasing massive ticket power.
