The blockbuster drama "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" is reuniting its stars to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
First aired on tvN in 2016, "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" became the first cable drama to surpass a 20% viewership rating, setting a historic milestone. Even after its finale, it continued to gain steady love on overseas platforms and is often cited as a defining title that helped fuel the Korean Wave.
The drama sparked a full-on cultural phenomenon―thanks to the cast’s nuanced performances, writer Kim Eun-sook’s sharp, memorable lines, director Lee Eung-bok’s cinematic visuals, and an OST that ruled the charts for weeks. In 2017, it swept major honors including the Baeksang Arts Awards, Cable TV Broadcasting Awards, and Korea Drama Awards, cementing its status as more than a hit―an era-defining work that captured the spirit of the times.
For the 10th anniversary, a special program will revisit the enduring power of "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God". In "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God - 10th Anniversary" (working title), Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun, and Yoo In-na will head out on a short trip together. Reuniting under the "Guardian" banner, they’ll look back on iconic scenes and lines―and reflect on what the series has meant to them and to fans. The special also doubles as a tvN 20th-anniversary edition, adding extra significance.
