A tipster who accused mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang of “eat-and-vomit” behavior―eating on camera and secretly throwing up―has been sent to court.

On March 20, according to legal sources, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office Criminal Division 3 summarily indicted Tzuyang’s college classmate, identified as Oh, on Feb. 2 for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, seeking a 7 million won fine.

Prosecutors say that in November 2020, Oh tipped off the YouTuber “Jujak Gambyulsa” (real name Jeon Guk-jin) with a false claim: that they “witnessed traces of vomiting” after Tzuyang filmed a giant pasta mukbang. That allegation was later aired on Jeon Guk-jin’s YouTube channel in July 2024, sparking controversy.

Investigators concluded the tip was false, noting that the time Oh met Tzuyang matched the episode’s air date, not its filming date, and citing statements from others who were present. During questioning, Oh reportedly denied the charge, insisting they “told the truth.”

Previously, Tzuyang’s team filed a complaint with Hyehwa Police, calling the tip fabricated. The case was forwarded to prosecutors in December 2024 and, after supplementary investigation, led to the summary indictment.

Meanwhile, Jeon Guk-jin―the YouTuber who broadcast the tip―received a finalized sentence of one year in prison, suspended for three years, for extorting money by threatening to expose details of Tzuyang’s private life.
