Director Jang Hang-jun, who helmed the film ‘The King's Warden,’ shared that he received a congratulatory text from director Park Chan-wook.

Jang appeared on a pre-recorded episode of SBS POWER FM’s ‘Ten’ on the afternoon of the 4th, alongside BA Entertainment CEO Jang Won-seok.

‘Ten’ turned into a special full-circle moment for Jang. Before the film opened in January, he promised on air, “If we hit 5 million admissions, I’ll come back.” He kept that promise by returning after the film passed 9 million.

Now a certified hitmaker returning to ‘Ten,’ Jang joked about how life at home has changed. “Even my 96-year-old father treats me a bit carefully these days,” he said, hinting at his upgraded family status.

He also laughed about the “good problems” that come with fame. “People recognize me even with a mask on. It’s a bit suffocating. They spot me on the subway too,” he quipped.

He then shared another feel-good moment. “Can I brag a little?” Jang began. “A few days ago, director Park Chan-wook texted me. He said, ‘Huge congratulations.’ He told me, ‘You pulled off something really big―thank you, and it deserves a round of applause.’”

CEO Jang Won-seok asked, “Are you sure it’s okay to make that text public?” Jang replied with a laugh, “If director Park Chan-wook texted me, I figure he was somewhat prepared for it to get out.”

Jang added, “I told him, ‘I never thought I’d live to see the day you’d praise me.’ It’s an honor to receive a compliment from a master.”

As of the 4th, ‘The King's Warden’ has drawn 9.59 million moviegoers in total and is expected to surpass 10 million this week.
