Painter Park Shin-yang reunited with Lee Dong-gun.

On the March 1 episode of SBS’ "My Little Old Boy", actor-turned-painter Park Shin-yang appeared on the show.

That day, Heo Kyung-hwan and Lee Dong-gun visited Park Shin-yang’s studio as he prepared for a solo exhibition. Now working as a painter, Park introduced a range of his pieces and drew attention.

Holding his solo show at the Sejong Center, Park shared why he started painting: “About 13 or 14 years ago, I missed a friend so much. The feeling was strange. Then I happened to pass an art supply store and, for the first time ever, bought a canvas and brushes.”

He continued, “I got home, started doodling, and stayed up all night. Then three years, five years, seven years, ten years just flew by,” explaining that longing for his friend led him to paint.

Heo asked if any of the works featured that friend’s face. Park then revealed a massive canvas portrait of his friend.

“He’s a friend I studied with in Russia. I painted because I missed him. He’s a famous actor in Russia now,” Park said.

Park and Lee reminisced about their drama "Lovers in Paris", recalling how grueling the schedule was at the time.

Park especially surprised everyone by revealing he injured his back during filming. “I had to lie down and get painkillers. I shot the entire drama in a haze. Whenever I wasn’t filming, I used crutches,” he said.

He even underwent emergency surgery. “When I woke up after surgery, the drama’s CP (chief producer) said, ‘Mr. Park Shin-yang, you need to get up―everyone in the country is waiting.’ He wasn’t an angel; he felt like a devil,” Park said, describing how the show’s intense popularity made it impossible to rest.

Lee recalled the day they shot one of Park’s most famous lines. “We filmed that scene all night. I was a smoker back then and you weren’t, but as dawn broke, I lit a cigarette. You saw me and said, ‘Give me one, I want to smoke today too.’ So we smoked together,” he shared, revealing an unforgettable moment.

Hearing this, Heo joked, “So you taught him how to smoke,” sparking laughter.

Later in the episode, Heo took on his own catchphrase challenge to help promote Park’s exhibition, drawing attention.
