BLACKPINK member and actor JISOO says she wants to become a “rom-com goddess” through "Boyfriend on Demand".

At the production presentation for the Netflix original series "Boyfriend on Demand" (written by Namgoong Do-young, directed by Kim Jeong-sik) held on the morning of Feb. 26 at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, JISOO shyly answered “I do” when asked if she wants to be a “rom-com goddess.”

"Boyfriend on Demand" is a romantic comedy about Seo Mi-rae (played by JISOO), a webtoon PD burned out by real life, who subscribes to and test-drives romance through a virtual dating simulation. "Boyfriend on Demand" is also the name of the in-story virtual dating subscription service. Exhausted by a war-like daily grind, Mi-rae enters a virtual world to experience the kinds of relationships she’s only dreamed of.

Taking on her first-ever romantic comedy with "Boyfriend on Demand", JISOO said, “It’s my first rom-com and also my first modern-day drama. As I read the script, Mi-rae was around my age, so there was a lot I could relate to. Building the character while sharing those feelings was really fun.” She added that she leaned on her co-star: “(Seo) In-guk oppa has done a lot of romance projects, so I followed his lead well.”

Director Kim Jeong-sik praised JISOO’s first rom-com turn, saying, “I don’t know why she’s only doing rom-com now,” sharing his strong satisfaction with her performance.

Through Seo Mi-rae, JISOO will portray a youth so drained by real life that even dating feels overwhelming―then switch it up in the virtual world with various settings, careers, and colorful romances. Meanwhile, Seo In-guk plays Park Gyeong-nam, Mi-rae’s co-worker who shakes up her daily routine. They start off on bad terms but gradually grow closer.

On his chemistry with JISOO, Seo In-guk said, “This was our first time working together, and it was way more fun than I expected. The "Boyfriend on Demand" set started and ended with laughter,” adding, “She’s incredibly charming. The Seo Mi-rae I saw in the script felt even more lovable once JISOO brought her to life―she makes you want to give her a hug. She’s really good at creating that.”

"Boyfriend on Demand" premieres on Netflix on March 6 at 5 p.m. KST.
