WOODZ’s self-conceived mystery short film “Slide Strum Mute,” which he also stars in, hits theaters today (Feb. 26). The film topped 10,000 real-time pre-sale tickets and entered the overall advance booking chart at No. 4, signaling a strong start.
“Slide Strum Mute” follows Woo-jin, who, on a night after failing an audition, plays a broken guitar handed to him by a mysterious man―and hurtles through a cursed timeline, pushed by desire.
Stage greetings and a post-screening Q&A (GV) with WOODZ, Jung Hoerin, and director Park Se-young on opening weekend sold out immediately as tickets went live. The film ranked No. 4 in overall advance bookings (KOFIC Integrated Computer Network, as of Feb. 25, 7 p.m.). For fans awaiting WOODZ’s upcoming full-length album, the project adds another jolt of good excitement.
Director Park Se-young―who drew attention with his first feature “The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra”―handled the script, directing, cinematography, and editing. Multi-talented artist WOODZ not only wrote the original concept but also took part in every stage from planning to completion.
As the lead, WOODZ plays Woo-jin, an aspiring musician who spirals into his inner desires after getting hold of a fateful guitar. Justin H. Min portrays Nam-gi, the owner of the cursed instrument, while Jung Hoerin plays Woo-jin’s older sister, Si-eun.
