‘Agents of Mystery 2’ PD Jung Jong-yeon explained why he cast dancer Gabee as a new team member.
At the Netflix variety show ‘Agents of Mystery 2’ press conference held the morning of the 19th at Hotel Naru Seoul in Mapo-gu, Seoul, PD Jung said, “To me, Gabee felt like a character you don’t see in OTT variety. I thought if she joined, we’d gain a truly standout character,” sharing how she came on board.
He added, “I spoke with other production staff who’ve worked with Gabee, and the praise was nonstop. I’d had this vague thought of ‘I want to work with her sometime,’” noting her strong reputation on set.
On filming with Gabee, he said, “Sure enough, it was sweet as honey. Gabee did so well,” and continued, “This isn’t your typical variety show. With this kind of format, some people might get upset, not sync with the cast, or even blame the crew. But Gabee nailed her role. She was definitely a +1.”
‘Agents of Mystery 2’ is an adventure mystery variety series that tracks and solves strange cases that defy scientific explanation. From PD Jung Jong-yeon, who helped build out the genre through shows like ‘The Devil’s Plan,’ ‘Great Escape,’ and ‘High School Mystery Club,’ the series made a big splash with its 2024 run. Season 2 returns with deeper mysteries and a massive open-world adventure that expands into outdoor locations.
As agents of the secret organization “XIN,” the ‘Agents of Mystery’ digs into supernatural cases and clears missions. Returning from Season 1 are Lee Yong-jin, John Park, Hyeri, Kim Do-hoon, and KARINA. New recruit Gabee joins the squad to bring fresh energy.
On joining the team, Gabee said, “When the offer for ‘Agents of Mystery 2’ came in, I was excited because I really wanted to try a show like this. While watching, I thought about what role I could play. I’m great at full-on immersion. I figured that could be my lane, and I was thrilled.”
She added, “I went in thinking, ‘Let’s do exactly my share and do it right,’ and I focused hard. I really leaned into concentrating and fully immersing. I also tried to bring energy―that’s what I have to offer.”
‘Agents of Mystery 2’ premieres on Netflix on the 27th.
