JEONJU International Film Festival has unveiled the official poster for its 27th edition.
Since 2020, the festival has built a graphic campaign that playfully transforms the initial “J” of JEONJU each year, visually defining the event’s identity. Building on that signature look, the 27th JEONJU International Film Festival introduces a fresh twist on the “J” campaign with its new official poster.
The poster sharpens the “J” into a striking graphic, signaling the festival’s drive to push past old symbols and expand the language of art through new forms and imagination. Leaning into analog methods―print, paper, and handmade objects―the design aims to restore human warmth and cinematic sensibility in a world dominated by advanced tech.
Art director Kim Taeheon explained, “We centered the work on the sense of touch, using print materials, paper, and objects, and produced a stop-motion video. Each scene pulls imagery from the festival. Through this, the ‘J’ that represents JEONJU is reinterpreted as a vessel for many stories. Handcrafted fragments come together to create the festival’s vibrant, refined artistic identity.”
He added, “When asked about the future of art, the festival intentionally moves against the tide of advanced AI to bring warmth back. We want to refocus on the virtues of an imperfect human touch that machines can’t imitate―and on a cinematic soul shaped only by human warmth.”
Artist Kim Youngna designed the official poster. Based in Berlin and Seoul, Kim experiments at the edge where the language of design meets the grammar of fine art, expanding the possibilities of visual thought across various media.
With the poster reveal kicking off its journey, the 27th JEONJU International Film Festival will run for 10 days from April 29 (Wednesday) to May 8 (Friday) across Film Street and venues throughout Jeonju.
