Actor Hwang Bo-ra deleted a promotional video after controversy broke out over using a car accident scenario to sell a product in a group-buy.
On the 11th, Hwang Bo-ra posted a video on her social media promoting a macadamia group purchase.
In the clip, she appears to be driving at night. She lets out a scream as if a crash just happened and ducks her head, then looks up smiling and says, “Want some macadamia?” while handing over the product.
Many viewers criticized the video, saying car accidents shouldn’t be treated as comedy or a prank. Some also brought up that Hwang was caught driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.135% in December 2007, condemning her for making light of traffic accidents without proper awareness.
On the 13th, Hwang Bo-ra issued an apology on social media.
“I apologize for my lack of judgment regarding the previous group-buy video. I’m sorry to everyone who felt uncomfortable. I will reflect and make sure this doesn’t happen again. I’m truly sorry,” she wrote, and deleted the video.
