The Netflix series ‘Boyfriend on Demand,’ starring BLACKPINK’s JISOO in the lead role, will premiere on Friday, March 6.
‘Boyfriend on Demand’ is a rom-com about Mirae (played by JISOO), a webtoon PD burned out by real life, who tests a virtual dating simulation that lets you “subscribe to love.” Matching the series title, the in-show service called ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ offers dream dates in a virtual world. The relatable office-life setup paired with “subscribing to romance in a virtual space” hints at fizzy, feel-good thrills.
Fans are buzzing over the pairing of JISOO and Seo In-guk, plus the involvement of director Kim Jung-sik, known for distinctive, grounded romantic comedies. The first poster and teaser, unveiled on the 5th, spotlight the show’s fresh, curiosity-sparking concept.
In the poster, Mirae looks deep in thought next to a checklist that helps diagnose your current love life. It’s painfully relatable for anyone too exhausted to even date. The kicker line ― “If any apply to you, subscribe now” ― makes ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ hard to resist.
The teaser opens the door to unexpected butterflies once Mirae subscribes to ‘Boyfriend on Demand.’ She literally steps into a romance webtoon scene. Then it’s a campus in spring with cherry blossoms, and a seaside moment right before a kiss. Real life fades; dream dates pop off the screen. The sweet prompt ― “Who would you like to go on a date with today?” ― teases a new hit of dopamine for anyone who finds dating a hassle but still wants the spark.
JISOO, who brings grounded relatability to Mirae, describes ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ as “a bubbly romantic comedy about someone who wants love and dopamine but keeps running into real-life problems ― and grows through it ― with tons of fun visuals along the way.” She adds, “We’re ready to deliver that fluttery feeling by proxy.
