Jo In-sung showed unwavering trust in director Ryoo Seung-wan.

At a press screening and Q&A for the film "HUMINT" held this afternoon at CGV Yongsan in Seoul, Jo said, “This is our third project together. Except for Smugglers, he asked me to come aboard after just hearing the pitch, without reading the script. The script isn’t what matters―our trust is. What’s important is how we build this together. So I decided to join without reading the script.”

He added, “We traded ideas, talked a lot on set, and kept refining things as we went. Working with the director starts from how we’re going to shape the project. You could say it all begins with simple trust.”

In "HUMINT", Jo plays a National Intelligence Service section chief who conveys the character’s turmoil without explosive displays of emotion.

“Back then, I thought bold acting was what stood out,” he explained. “But after working with the director recently, and previously with writer Noh Hee-kyung, I started focusing on performance that blends in yet holds power―guiding the story without sticking out. I’m still thinking about how to do that. I’ll keep working on it and hope to grow through that process. I want to be an actor who is quiet but strong.”

"HUMINT" follows a clash of people with different agendas in Vladivostok, where both secrets and truths sink into an icy sea. It opens on the 11th.
