A Korea·Nigeria co-production titled “K-Pop Afrobeats Film Project” has tapped MOMOLAND’s NANCY, Nigerian-Canadian singer-actor Uto Rosman, and South African creator-model Sydney Seethal to lead the cast as the film heads into production.

Director Myung Hyun-woo, known for the stylish series “Check-In Hanyang,” will helm the project. The script is penned by writers Kim Yoo-joon and Lee Hyo-jin. Myung previously won the Best Drama prize at the Vietnam VTV Drama Awards for the Vietnam co-produced series “Youth Today,” raising anticipation for his global storytelling touch here.

Set in Seoul, “K-Pop Afrobeats Film Project” aims to weave together two powerhouse genres―Afrobeats and K-pop―on the big screen. Riding momentum from “KPop Demon Hunters,” the feature positions itself as a bold, globe-facing crossover that spotlights the next wave of Korean content.

The international lineup is designed to travel. NANCY, who rose to fame with a string of hits as part of MOMOLAND, will star alongside Uto Rosman, while Sydney Seethal―one of South Africa’s buzziest influencers and a global model―makes her acting debut.

Seethal’s move into film comes as she and her sister, South African artist Tyla, continue to chart creative paths in the entertainment world―fueling fan excitement for the project’s cross-continental flavor.

On the production side, Korea’s Big Ocean ENM―known for series including The Fiery Priest 2 and Flex x Cop―teams with Nigeria’s acclaimed Nemsia Studios, a frequent awards contender and a company that has inked a multi-title deal with Amazon Prime Video. The partnership signals serious scale and ambition.

“This is the first co-produced film with an African nation, and it goes beyond a simple collaboration,” a Big Ocean ENM representative said. “We’re aiming to showcase the beauty of Seoul while expanding the market for K-content and building a model for sustained collaboration between the two film industries.”
