SBS’s new character-driven talk show “Real Talk” is rolling out the red carpet for its first guest: MMA star and TV personality Choo Sung-hoon.
Premiering Feb. 2, the series reimagines the traditional talk format with hosts Tak Jae-hoon, Lee Sang-min, Lee Su-ji, and EXO’s KAI slipping into over-the-top personas from different “universes” each episode. The result: a fast, unpredictable spin on celebrity conversations.
A sneak peek released on Jan. 28 sets the tone with a prison-themed setup, where the four MCs appear as inmates. In one scene, top-dog Lee Su-ji has Tak Jae-hoon and Lee Sang-min kneading her legs in a hilarious power play that hints at the show’s anything-goes humor.
Choo makes an entrance in an orange jumpsuit, lounging in solitary confinement with all the swagger of the cellblock boss. Tensions flare with Lee Su-ji for laughs―until a tongue-in-cheek twist reveals he’s been “arrested” for “habitual indecent exposure.” Producers even flash an old adults-only nude photobook, shocking the room. Choo shrugs it off: “It was a lighthearted shoot. I usually don’t wear underwear anyway,” he jokes, sending the cast into hysterics.
He also raises eyebrows with a surprisingly chill take on relationships, saying he’s fine with his wife, model Shiho Yano, having male friends. “She should have guy friends―it makes life more fun,” he says. The reveal that he, in turn, has plenty of close female friends draws mock outrage from the hosts.
“Real Talk” premieres Monday, Feb. 2 at 10:10 p.m. on SBS.
